(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
On May 5, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was hiding. On May 7, 2012, the cat was no longer hiding and the owner observed that the cat was lethargic, anorexic, and had agonal breathing. At that time, the owner gave the cat subcutaneous fluids that she had on hand for use with another cat. Later that day, the owner observed that the cat died. On May 8, 2012 the owner's regular veterinarian contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that while some cats may have mild behavior changes in response to any spot on product due to not liking the sensation of the product spreading on the skin, etofenprox is well tolerated and is not likely to cause significant signs. The APSS recommended that a necropsy be performed if the body was still in good condition.
Mort
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have an unknown likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On May 8, 2012 the owner contacted the APSS to discuss the case and a possible necropsy. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner have her regular veterinarian call for information and referred her to the product's manufacturer to discuss payment for a necropsy. On May 11, 2012 the owner contacted the APSS again to discuss a necropsy. A necropsy was not available because the body was not available by the submission deadline. The APSS veterinarian provided information to the owner about where to find resources regarding vet diseases.
