June 18, 2012 Caller states that on June 13 she applied the Hot Shot Bedbug & Flea Killer 2 in her bedroom for an unspecified period of time in unspecified locations. The caller states that her cat had been in the room at the time hiding under or behind a pillow on the bed. On Saturday, June 16, the cat went missing. The caller states she found the deceased cat on July 18. The only symptom that was reported was that cat had stopped eating, but it is unclear if the cat stopped eating before or after the pesticide had been used.

The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone Interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and can not form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews. The product use history is vague and lacks any description of a known or defined point of direct exposure to this product. It would appear that the product was grossly misused if applied on our around a bed that the cat was lying on. Even had casual or incidental contact with this ready-to-use pesticide product occurred, such serious illness resulting in fatality would be unexpected and is biologically implausible. Finally, this animal was never properly evaluated and treated by a DVM nor was a necropsy performed to determine a possible cause of death.
