1-29849653- The reporter, a worker in an animal rescue facility, indicated an animal was exposed to an insecticidal product containing the active ingredients tetrachlorvinphos and methoprene. The reporter indicated he placed the product, a flea and tick collar labeled for use on cats on a nursing female cat one month prior to his initial contact. He reports the three kitted the queen had died within the past three days. No signs were describe prior to the death. The caller described using the caller in multiple animals in the colony. He commented that a juvenile male cat that had the collar on recently had died, again no signs were described prior to the death. The caller was advised the collar is not labeled for use on pregnant or nursing animals. The outcome seen would not be anticipated following use as labeled. He was advised to remove the collar from all animals in the colony and wash those animals with a noninsecticidal shampoo. He was advised to seek veterinary assistance and consider registrant supported necropsy on the animals that had passed. He was advised with multiple animals of varied demographic affected in an intensive setting he should consider the likelihood that he may be dealing with and infectious agent. No further information is available.
