1-27561373- The reporter, a pet owner, indicates her animal was exposed to an insecticidal product containing the active ingredient tetrachlorvinphos and methoprene. The pet owner indicated she had applied the product to her four month female four pound domestic longhair cat the day prior to her initial contact with the registrant. She reported the animal was shaking shortly after application. The morning of her initial contact she had noted vomiting loss of appetite and lethargy. The caller revealed that the animal was bathed with an over the counter flea and tick shampoo she could not name the day before her initial contact as well. The caller was advised use of the product per the label would not be expected to elicit the signs seen. It is not recommended to use multiple overlapping flea and tick preparations on the same animal. It was recommended she bathe the animal in a non insecticidal shampoo and seek veterinary assistance. On follow up two days later the caller had reported the animal had vomited one more time and then spontaneously resolved. She had not seen a veterinarian. The reporter spontaneously called back three days later and reported the animal had died at home. She was advised of registrant supported necropsy to determine the cause of death. It is unclear if the pet owner took advantage of the program. No further information is available.
