American Pit Bull Terrier named Polo (Canine Domestic) Signalment 2.0 yr intact male weighing 60.0 lb. Was in good health previously. Normal environment: indoors mostly. Agent Exposure Roundup Weed and Grass Killer 1 Ready To Use (not specific agent id) Possible exposure occurred on Aug 13, 2011 at 12:00 PM CDT (not specific ). Exposure involved unknown amount by unknown route. The exposure was accidental, and occurred at animal owner yard. [Note : About a week ago O applied the Round to the yard. Dogs were allowed in yard soon after application of the product. 2 days ago O noticed Polo getting sick. If signs develop, there is low risk that those signs will be life-threatening. [Note : Glyphosate is an amino acid inhibitor that affects the shikimic pathway in plants. Mammals do not have this pathway. Glyphosate is considered practically non-toxic via dermal and oral routes. However, the formulation frequently includes surfactants that can be irritating. Most yard use products will cause no more than mild self-limiting GI upset.
