1-24561530- The reporter, a pet owner, indicated his three animal were exposed to an insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The pet owner stated he applied the product, a topical flea drop, to his three female domestic shorthair cats three weeks prior to initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner reported all three animals spontaneously developed seizures the day prior to the initial contact with the registrant. The reporter indicated he found the first animal, a one year three pound cat (Sub-form III, #1), lying on the ground foaming at the mouth and defecating. The cat died shortly after it was found in this condition. He reported later in the day his four year six pound cat (Sub-form III, #2) was found in a similar condition. He rushed the animal to the veterinary hospital but the animal died prior to arrival. The reporter indicated he found his third cat, a four year eight pound female (Sub-form III, #3), when he arrived home dead. It was reported the animal had defecated ¿¿¿all over? prior to its death. The pet owner was informed the signs seen were inconsistent with the toxicity profile of the product and the time line of application. The caller was informed of registrant supported necropsy to assist in determining the cause of death. At the time of this report the caller had not pursued necropsy.
