On August 1, 2010 the owner applied the product onto the dog in the household. Between August 2 and August 16, 2010 the cat had contact with the dog and On August 17, 2010 the owner came home to find the kitten convulsing, which ended later that evening, so the owner took the kitten to the veterinarian, who gave the kitten methocarbamol and diazepam. On August 18, 2010 the owner bathed the kitten. Later that afternoon the owner found the kitten was now weak and was tremoring, so he called the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian recommended discontinuing the oral diazepam as it can result in hepatotoxicity in cats, take the kitten back to the veterinarian for intravenous (IV) fluids, IV methocarbamol, and thermoregulation, have the veterinarian call for information, and call the manufacturer regarding discussing labeling against cats playing with treated dogs.

On August 20, 2010 an APSS assistant called the owner to follow up the case. The owner stated she did not follow any of the APSS veterinarian's recommendations as she could not afford to hospitalize the kitten. The APSS assistant recommended the owner contact the manufacturer to discuss reimbursement. This product was not used according to label directions: Cats that actively groom or engage in close physical contact with treated animals maybe at risk of serious harm.
