Treatment / Traitement
(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
On August 13, 2010 the dog became symptomatic. On August 14, 2010 the dog's skin felt cool, so the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated with use of any dermal spot on product, systemic signs are not expected. The APSS veterinarian also stated that this pet has a pre-existing skin condition, and the clinical signs the owner is describing are more severe than what would be expected with dermal hypersensitivity. The APSS veterinarian recommended taking the dog into the veterinarian, having the veterinarian call for information, monitoring the dog's mucous membrane color, bathing the dog with liquid dish washing detergent, giving a bland diet to try to stimulate the dog's appetite, monitoring the dog for dermatological signs, and calling back with questions.
Mort
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was not related to the clinical situation. On August 18, 2010 the owner returned the APSS's follow up call. The owner stated that she had taken the dog to the veterinarian and they said the dog had some sort of organ failure and blood work was not normal. The dog was in critical condition prior to application of the product. The dog passed away on August 15, 2010. The APSS technician recommended a necropsy, but the body was no longer available. This product was not used according to label directions: wrong sized dose used.
