1-19694265: A reporter (cat owner) called on 08/31/2009 to report the exposure of her 2 cats to a flea egg and larvae product containing the active ingredient Methoprene. According to the reporter, she applied the product to her 2 cats on 08/25/2009. On 08/26/2009, Cat #1 (1st Subform III) was found dead. On 08/27/2009, Cat #2 (2nd Subform III) was anorexic, not drinking, and lethargic. She bathed Cat #2 with water and took him to the veterinarian for treatment. The reporter was advised that the product's active ingredient had little to no mammalian toxicity, so adverse effects are not expected. The reporter called back on 08/31/2009, to say that Cat #2 died. Again, the reporter was advised that the product is not expected to result in adverse effects. A recommendation was made to have the veterinarian call to discuss the product if he was unsure of the active ingredient. No further information was obtained. NOTE: This product is not labeled for use on aged animals, defined as older than 10 years of age.
