1-18590412: A reporter (rabbit owner) called on 05/25/2009 to report the exposure of her 3 rabbits to a flea and tick collar containing the active ingredient Tetrachlorvinphos. According to the reporter, the collars were applied to the rabbits on 05/23/2009. The rabbits were noted to be lethargic on the day of the report. The reporter stated that the rabbits did not lick or chew on the collars. The reporter removed the collars prior to the report. The reporter was advised that the product is not intended for use on rabbits, and that she should speak with her veterinarian regarding appropriate products to use for flea and tick control. The reporter was also advised to wash the application site with a washcloth and mild soap to remove any product reside. A recommendation was made to not fully bathe the rabbits as they can easily injure their backs by trying to jump out of the tub. A recommendation was made to have the rabbits evaluated by a veterinarian should the signs persist or new signs develop. On follow up, the reporter stated that she bathed the rabbits' necks and their signs resolved within 24 hours. No further information was obtained. NOTE: The product is not labelled for use on rabbits.
