11/21/08 Caller reports applying the product in a room in the home for the past two weeks. Caller reports feeling nauseous from smelling the product in the home. 12/5/08 Callback attempted to original caller. A message was left requesting follow up information. Original caller's roommate is returning the previous message. The roommate also reports using the product for the past two weeks along with the original caller. The roommate developed throat irritation and chest congestion within four or five days of beginning use of the product. Roommate was evaluated by a physician who prescribed an Alvesto inhaler for treatment but gave no diagnosis for the cause of the symptoms. Roommate reports that symptoms subsided approximately 1.5 weeks ago. Roommate is unsure if the original caller was evaluated by a physician, but reports that original caller's symptoms subsided over the past two weeks.
Mineure
The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone Interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and can not form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews. Residual odors that remain after many different kinds of pesticide applications do not carry significant airborne quantities of the active ingredients that would pose any risk of true systemic toxicity to individuals who detect the odor. However, what is perceived as an unpleasant odor may act as a noxious stimulus in some individuals that may provoke such symptoms as nausea and headache. Odors associated with pesticide applications are typically attributed to the inert materials of the formula. The physicochemical characteristics of most pesticides are such that the active ingredients possesses a limited degree of volatility, thus, limiting the amount of airborne concentrations of the active ingredients to a level well below the threshold for potential toxicity.
