1-16027876: The reporter called on 4/16/08 to report her dog had passed away after potential exposure to a product containing the active ingredients Dicamba, Triclopyr, and MCPA. The reporter had taken her dog for a walk and the dog had licked a small piece of meat for 2-5 seconds that was in her neighbor's yard. The dog had immediately gone into convulsions, was unable to walk, and had started foaming at the mouth. The reporter stated it looked like the dog's legs had become paralyzed. She had called her veterinarian, who told her to give some hydrogen peroxide to try and make the dog vomit. The dog had vomited up some clear, mucous-like vomit after the peroxide was given and then had died sometime later. Total time from exposure to death was no more than 60 minutes. The reporter stated the neighbor had sprayed the product in question on his/her yard and had mixed it 3 times stronger than recommended. She was wondering if the product could be responsible for her dog's death since it was mixed so strongly. The toxic profile of the concentrated product was discussed, which did not match the symptoms exhibited by the reporter's dog. In addition, it was discussed that a few licks of the concentrated product would at the most cause minor, transient GI upset.
