5/11/2023 Animal owner is calling because their dog is in critical condition at their veterinary clinic after ingesting 8 blocks of Tomcat Mouse Killer somewhere between 10 days to 2 weeks ago. The pet is bleeding into his abdomen and receiving blood transfusions. Symptoms began two nights ago on May 9th, 2023 with lethargy. 5/11/2023 Treating veterinarian calling back. The dog presented dull, tachycardic, with vomiting and a hemoabdomen last night. Blood work showed the dog was anemic and coagulopathic (elevated prothrombin time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT)). The dog was treated with anti-emetics and subcutaneous Vitamin K1 last night. Today, pleural effusion and bruising was noted, and the dog has received a plasma transfusion today. 5/15/2023 Follow up with the owner revealed that the dog was released home on approximately May 13th, 2023. The owner is uncertain of all the treatments performed. They are struggling to get him to eat and to take his Vitamin K1 currently. The dog is still lethargic and now has lost a lot of weight due to not eating. No further information has been received.
