Death
Assessment: Clinical signs following methomyl exposure can include those related to muscarinic receptors (including excessive salivation or foaming at the mouth) and the nicotinic receptors (tremors, convulsions, and seizures among other neurological symptoms). The clinical signs described in this case, including death, are consistent with those caused by methomyl; however, these clinical signs are not specific to only methomyl exposure. Further information regarding the exposure of the dog to the product, as well as physical exam findings and necropsy of this geriatric dog would allow for further assessment of causality. The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and cannot form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews. This product should not be anywhere that a pet or child may have access.
