(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
At an unknown date, the cat developed constipation and on November 29, 2018, the owner took the cat to the regular veterinarian who sent the cat home with lactulose. Later that night, the owner noticed the cat had developed fasciculations (ears and tail occasionally twitch) and licking. The owner then found a new flea collar that the cat had pulled out of the package and was chewing on (no parts of the collar were missing but there were visible bite marks). The owner then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS assistant stated that the risk is for gastrointestinal (GI) upset and taste reaction and that larger ingestions can lead to salivation, lacrimation, urination, defecation, dyspnea, and emesis (SLUDDE) signs. The APSS assistant recommended the owner monitor at home, give a taste treat, and to call back with questions.
Moderate
The APSS assistant stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation.
