On May 4, 2017 the cat punctured an applicator of this product and ingested an unknown amount. The cat was licking his lips after the exposure but seems fine now. The owner then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated that a taste reaction and gastrointestinal signs (GI) signs are possible. The APSS assistant recommended the owner monitor at home, give a taste treat (little bit of water, canned cat food, or plain tuna juice), monitor for GI signs, manage vomiting (nothing by mouth (NPO) for 1 hour, then gradually reintroduce water then food), and to call back with questions (or if signs more than mild).
