(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms

On an unspecified date, in approximately Nov-2016, a canine, of unknown signalment and condition, with concomitant unspecified serious medical conditions, had 1 Seresto Dog (unspecified) (Flumethrin-Imidacloprid) collar placed around the neck by the animal owner. On an unspecified date, in approximately Jan-2017, post collar application, the dog died. No known necropsy was performed. Limited information was obtained at the time of communication. Further attempts to gather additional information will not be made. The reporting party contacted Bayer Animal Health to inquire about using the collar for a different pet and not to report the death of this animal. No further information is expected; this case is closed.

18. Severity classification (if there is more than 1 possible classification

Death

19. Provide supplemental information here

N - Unlikely Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as it is inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. No signs of anaphylaxis reported which would have occurred in close proximity to the collar application. Moreover, the animal had a concomitant serious medical condition which could have resulted in death. Furthermore, the reason for the initial call was to inquire about using the collar for a different pet and not to report the death of this animal. Even though information on animal age, weight, collar size and necropsy are unavailable, considering all aspects, product involvement is considered unlikely.
