(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms

On an unknown date post application in 2016, the canine died. It was unknown if a necropsy was performed. Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, specific relevant event details were not obtained, nor will such be sought. The reason for the initial phone call was to discuss the use of the product and not to report the death of the patient. This case is closed. No additional information expected.

18. Severity classification (if there is more than 1 possible classification

Death

19. Provide supplemental information here

Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult dogs for an 8 months period without causing serious signs. Time to onset is unknown. No signs of anaphylaxis reported which would have occurred in close proximity to the collar application and would have been probably reported. Moreover, the reason for the initial phone call was to discuss the use of the product and not to report the death of the patient. This is a geriatric animal, and thus numerous underlying health conditions may be the cause for the death of this animal. Finally, even though some information (e.g. Animal details, treatment details, concomitant medical condition and necropsy results) missing, considering the product's pharmacological profile, no plausible connection can be made to the product and a product relation is deemed to be unlikely.
