On approximately 26-Dec-2016, an 11 year old,approximately 10 pound, neutered, male, Maine Coon Cat feline, in unknown condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, was administered 1 tube of Advantage II Large Cat (Imidacloprid-Pyriproxyfen) topically by the owner.

On approximately 06Jan2017, the feline died of unknown cause; no necropsy was conducted. This case is closed. No additional information expected.

Death is inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile and experience. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat is 642 mg/kg BW. 24-fold overdosage tolerated by cats without showing any side effect. Animal involved in this case was geriatic. Time to onset is too long. Even though no necropsy was performed, sufficient information exists to rule out product relation completely and thus, a product relation is unlikely.
