(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms

On August 1, 2016 the dog developed symptoms. Later that day, the owner gave the dog 70 milligrams (mg) of aspirin. On August 2, 2016, the owner bathed the dog (mild, natural, dog shampoo). The owner then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated any dermally applied product can cause skin irritation and/or hypersensitivity reaction and topically applied pyrethrins/pyrethroids can cause tingling to the skin. The APSS veterinarian finally stated systemic signs are not expected as long as product was used according to label. The APSS assistant recommended taking the dog to the veterinarian and having the veterinarian call for information. The APSS assistant also relayed to the owner that the attending veterinarian cannot give steroids for at least a few days because of the aspirin that was given.
