(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On May 27, 2016 the cat became listless and developed anorexia. On May 29, 2016 the owner gave the cat a bath (with baby shampoo) and water (small amount of water in a syringe). Shortly after the cat started retching. The owner then called the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) and stated she was on the way to veterinary clinic with the cat. The APSS veterinarian stated concern with this exposure is for taste reactions (hypersalivation, vomiting, behavior changes, restlessness) and lethargy. The APSS assistant recommended having the veterinarian call for information and calling back with questions.
Minor
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On May 29, 2016 the attending emergency veterinarian called the APSS to discuss the case. The APSS veterinarian discussed the product's wide margin of safety and recommended a diagnostic evaluation (blood work), bathing the cat (in liquid dish washing detegent (LDWD), and supportive and symptomatic care.
