1-45961392 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated his cat was exposed to an insecticidal spot-on product containing the active ingredient permethrin. One day before the day of initial contact with the registrant, the reporter accidently applied the product to his 8-month-old, 5-pound, male domestic shorthair cat. On the morning of the day of initial contact with the registrant, the reporter noticed the cat had muscle tremors and ataxia. The reporter gave the cat a bath and the symptoms seemed to lessen a little bit. The reporter was advised to re-bathe the cat as the application of the dog product could potentially cause death. After bathing, the cat should get veterinary care for monitoring and supportive care. On follow-up call one day later, the reporter indicated he bathed the cat three times and the symptoms lasted about 16 hours. The reporter stated he was unable to get veterinary care for the cat. No additional information is available.
