On May 20, 2015 the kitten became lethargic, so the owner took the kitten to the veterinarian, where paradyne was given. On May 21, 2015 the owner took the cat back to the veterinarian where the cat was diagnosed with anemia. Later that night, the kitten died. On May 22, 2015 the owner called the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated in addition, some animals exhibit abnormal behavior in response to the dermal sensation (paresthesia) that may be associated with this type of product. The APSS veterinarian recommended a necropsy (owner declined), environmental decontamination, and calling the veterinarian (to discuss flea control in nursing mother cat and 5 week old kittens).
