1-38743831 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her cat and some wildlife may have been exposed to a weed preventer containing the active ingredient corn gluten meal. The reporter indicated that her 12 pound, 2-year-old cat (subform III #1) vomited seven days prior to initial contact with the registrant. Then one day prior to initial contact with the registrant, after the cat had stayed outside all night, the cat vomited again, was drooling and had diarrhea. The reporter took her cat to an emergency veterinarian where it was hospitalized and it was still being treated at the clinic at the time of the initial call. The reporter indicated that she went into her neighbors garage to see what might have poisoned her cat and found this product. No exposure to the product was witnessed but the reporter felt the cats symptoms were from this product. The reporter also indicated that although no exposure to the product had been witnessed, she had noticed wildlife (Subform IV #1) around her home that seemed ill and the reporter felt that they must have also been entering the garage and consuming the product. The reporter was advised that the product has a wide margin of safety. Ingestion of the product may cause transient gastrointestinal irritation but severe symptoms as described are not expected. The reporter was further advised that there are numerous possible causes for the described symptoms. No further information is available.
