(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-38074158 - The reporter, a veterinarian, indicated that a cat was exposed to an insecticidal spot-on product containing the active ingredient methoprene. The reporter indicated that the pet owner applied the product to her 19-year-old, 6 pound, female cat about a week and a half prior to initial contact with the registrant. Around that same time the cat presented to the clinic with a decreased appetite, tremors and potentially non-visual. The cat had gradually been losing weight one week prior to presentation at the clinic. The reporter thought that cat was suffering from an ear infection and she treated it with an injectable antibiotic and an appetite stimulant. Caller was wondering if symptoms might be from this product. The reporter was advised that the product has a wide margin of safety and the described symptoms are not consistent with exposure to the product. Pyrethroid hair testing was recommended to rule out possible exposure to a pyrethroid insecticide. No further information is available.
