1-37864061 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her two cats were exposed to an insecticidal powder containing the active ingredient tetrachlorvinphos. The reporter indicated that she applied the product to her two 4-year-old, male, 20 pound cats 4 days prior to initial contact with the company. The next day both cats stopped eating and stopped using the litter box and their legs became very rigid. Both cats died 2 days after the product was applied. The reporter was advised that the described symptoms are not expected with exposure to the product. The symptoms of organophosphate toxicity were explained and the reporter then indicated that her cats had vomiting, excessive urination and diarrhea prior to death.
