1-30955599 - The reporter, a veterinary technician, indicated two kittens were exposed to an insecticidal collar containing the active ingredient Tetrachlorvinphos. The veterinary technician reported that a collar was placed on a 1 pound 6 ounce, 4-week-old, female domestic long haired kitten (Subform III #1) and another collar was placed on a 4-week-old domestic long haired(Subform III #2) one day prior to initial contact with the registrant. The 1 pound 6 ounce kitten (Subform III #1) presented to the veterinary clinic for shaking on the day of initial contact. The other kitten (Subform III #2) was reported to have died at home and was not brought to the clinic. The veterinary technician was advised that the product is not labeled for use on animals less than 12 weeks of age. Removal of the collar, bathing the animal with a non-insecticidal shampoo and administration of methocarbamol to control shaking was recommended. On follow-up, three days later, a reporter at the clinic indicated that the collar was removed, the cat was bathed and treated with an unspecified antibiotic and with an unspecified flea treatment. According to the reporter the kitten looked better when it left the clinic. No further information is available.
